We know that we will be in lockdown for some time yet and it won’t be an easy thing for lots of people, no matter how important it is that we observe the rules.
Remaining healthy is the key to having a fit mind and body, and it will make the experience a little easier.
In your safe space (home), observe a healthy lifestyle that incorporates each of these three suggestions…
Create a daily task list and keep talking
Sitting on the sofa all day won’t do you any good. Stay nice and busy by doing plenty of jobs around the house each day, anything from repainting a wall, or mending a garden fence.
When you get all of your tasks for the day done, you will feel like you have achieved something and have a sense of satisfaction.
Reward yourself with a nice relax in front of the TV and an online chat with anyone you’re unable to currently see. There are loads of conversations taking place from living rooms via Zoom and it will give you a great laugh, just what we all need right now.
Take to your garden frequently
Thankfully, we have been blessed with some good weather recently and long may it continue as our bodies need lots of vitamin D and fresh air.
You can’t go away at the moment, but you could recreate that foreign holiday feel by having a table and chairs set up outside and directly facing the sun for eating breakfast, lunch and dinner outdoors.
The kids should also be given the freedom to play outside with all their outdoor toys and games. You could even let them do their home schooling in the garden – it sure beats doing it inside and may improve their productivity.
Make baking your new hobby
Ok, eating too much cake isn’t great for the waistline, but baking it can be great for our mental health and overall mood, according to many scientists.
You don’t ever have to have baked before as there are loads of simple cake, cookie and crumble recipes you can attempt using the various kitchen utensils you have stashed away in your cupboards.
When out of the oven, share your baked goods with the world by taking a picture and posting it on your Instagram page to see what others make of your bake. Who cares if you end up with a soggy bottom. It’s all about having fun.
Your mind will also be in a good place if you make plans for the future, such as organising the installation of home improvements. Trent Valley has a FREE Online Service you can use to do this.
