What You Need To Do To Measure Your Windows And Doors

There has been a slight relaxation in the lockdown rules, but for the moment, we are still not permitted to visit your home to measure up for new windows and doors.

But please don’t let that stop you from ordering new windows and doors, if you would like them fitted after the current restrictions have been lifted, as Trent Valley Windows is taking orders and will work on getting them ready.

In your conversation with them, they will provide guidance on measuring up. We need some rough measurements to help us produce the correct window and door sizes. More thorough measurements will be taken once we are allowed to come out and see you.

If you want to measure up now, prior to having a Virtual Appointment, here’s how it’s done, and a few other things we could do with knowing:

Windows

  • You will need a tape measure so that you can measure the width and height of your windows.
  • Please measure them in millimetres, centimetres or inches.
  • When measuring the height and width, please go brick-to-brick.
  • If you’re happy with like-for-like replacement windows, take a photograph from the outside of your current windows and share it with us.
  • If you want a new window design and have a design in mind, try and find an example you can share with us.
  • Assess all of our colour options and decide on a finish.

Doors

  • You will need a tape measure so that you can measure the width and height of your doors.
  • Please measure them in metric or imperial units.
  • When measuring the width, go brick-to-brick, and for the height, go brick-to-floor.
  • If you’re happy with a like-for-like replacement door, take a photograph from the outside of your current door and share it with us.
  • Decide if you want your new door to open in or out.
  • We need to know if your current door is hinged on the left or right as you look at it from the outside.
