Mrs Geall's
Eclipse Aluminium Windows & Solid Roof Extension
A 1930’s family home receives a watchful contemporary update.
On the verge of giving up hope of finding a suitable replacement for her leaky leaded windows, Mrs Geall discovered our slimframe aluminium windows.
It’s nearly 100 years ago since Mrs Geall’s gorgeous home was designed and built by a local architect, and it retains much of its original look. In recent years, the leaded windows had become a major headache for her due to leaks and them being difficult and expensive to maintain. Mrs Geall also wondered if the windows being mullioned would be an issue.
Light was of vital importance to Mrs Geall, so that’s why she was drawn to our Eclipse aluminium windows. They have a super-slender frame and help to maximise the view you get through the design. Aluminium is also a low-maintenance material, and would shut out draughts, helping do two things – cut the cost of Mrs Geall’s energy bills and maintenance costs.
To accommodate her hobby of painting watercolours from home, a solid roof extension was constructed at the back of the building. A solid tiled roof covering was thought best as it would keep the room insulated and make it suitable for frequent use.
Mrs Geall doesn’t hear as much noise from inside the house now and it makes for a more peaceful place to live. To her relief, she doesn’t worry anymore about opening and closing her windows, like she did with her leaded windows for fear of them falling out! A reduction in energy bills and increase in comfort has also come about, and one year on from the installation, we returned to the house to check everything over.
