Fashions change, but one window design continues to stand the test of time – the sash window. Created over 400 years ago, it is still a big favourite with window buyers, including the occupants of this majestic residence. Sash windows were the only replacement windows they had in their mind when they’re old windows were very obviously past their best, and to accessorise them, they included Georgian bars. Like with most sash windows, they open via the movable panel and this causes them to vertically slide upwards. They’re not crafted from timber though, manufactured instead from UPVC.
Their fondness for Georgian bars also led to them asking for their inclusion in the new French doors they purchased. They also instructed Trent Valley Windows to add panelling to these doors to maximise external views. Since their installation, the family have been spending much of their time outdoors. Arguably, the biggest talking point is the new arched sash window at the back of the house. It took a serious amount of skill to craft a window in the relevant shape and size, but we accomplished it effortlessly. They only had one colour in mind for their new composite door – black. This makes it such an imposing entrance.
